January Sustainability Committee Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who joined the January 6th Sustainability Committee meeting on Water Conservation.  Special thanks to Peter Donaldson from Sustainability Ambassadors for walking us through potential collaboration paths between PTSA’s and Sustainability Ambassador, including participation in monthly impact updates and support for student-led initiatives such as Bus Bingo and bike programs. The integration of Indigenous perspectives into sustainability education was also discussed in this meeting.

To achieve Water Conservation Benchmark recognition, schools should complete a Waste Walk-Through and promote and complete at least one student activity. Water conservation can be promoted through, morning announcements and pledges. Student activities example include installing visual signage or conducting a faucet flow test, however, activities are not limited to these examples and schools are encouraged to be creative. additional activity ideas and examples can be found on the KCGSP website

Schools may also request in-person assistance or “Turn Off the Faucet” visual signage by connecting with their school’s KCGSP representatives.
